  19. Subject: .WAV Files Disrupting Fax Transmission or Reception
  20.  
  21. Situation:
  22. ==========
  23. Fax transmission or reception is disrupted due to sounds (.WAV files) 
  24. generated by Windows applications. For example, while receiving a fax, 
  25. Microsoft Mail notifies you of an incoming message by playing a chime 
  26. on the PC speaker which causes fax reception to fail.

  28. Solution:
  29. =========
  30. If you work with Windows applications that generate .WAV files, perform 
  31. the following procedure to enable interrupts for your PC speaker sound 
  32. driver.
  33.  
  34. 1.  Open the Windows Control Panel.
  35.  
  36.     The Control Panel icon is usually found in the Main group window of 
  37.     Program Manager.
  38.  
  39. 2.  Double click on the Drivers icon to open the Drivers section of the 
  40.     Control Panel.
  41.  
  42. 3.  Select the sound driver for your PC speaker.
  43.  
  44. 4.  Click on Setup, if the button is accessible.
  45.  
  46. 5.  Enable interrupts, if the option is available.
  47.  
  48. 6.  Click OK to save the change.
  49.  
  50. Notes:  You cannot setup or enable interrupts for all sound drivers. If 
  51.         these options are not available, add the sound driver for the PC 
  52.         speaker that comes with Microsoft Windows. See your Microsoft Windows 
  53.         user's manual for details.

  55.         The sound quality of .WAV files decreases with interrupts enabled.
